As co-founder of the York U Blockchain Association, I was responsible for organizing various events and activities related to blockchain technology. This included lectures, seminars, and workshops, both virtual and in-person, with a focus on educating the campus community about blockchain technology, its various applications, and the potential impact it can have. Additionally, I coordinated with faculty members to develop and implement a blockchain-based curriculum at York University. This included researching and selecting the most suitable resources and materials, as well as designing activities and assessments that would effectively teach the content. My involvement also included liaising with external organizations to facilitate guest speakers, project collaborations, and career opportunities for students. Finally, I oversaw the day-to-day operations of the organization, including budgeting, fundraising, and marketing.
We managed to organize several events with special guests to deliver talks on cryptocurrencies, its innovation, and technology. This was aimed at increasing students’ literacy in the space and helping to foster a more knowledgeable and engaged community around blockchain technology. I was part of a growing committee membership that increased by about 25% each year and helped to boost student participation by 40%. As part of the committee, I was able to secure notable guest speakers from organizations such as Insolar, Cultos, Newton, Shakepay, and more. I also played a role in organizing various events such as hackathons and workshops, with the goal of introducing students to the various aspects of blockchain technology, such as coding, cryptography, and economics.
I was involved in organizing an annual summit event with the National Digital Asset Exchange (NDAX), which saw over 400 students in attendance. As part of the event, we were able to secure a well-renowned investor, Mr. Andreas Antonopoulos, as a guest speaker. During the event, Mr. Antonopoulos spoke about the importance of digital assets and how blockchain technology is transforming the financial industry. I was also responsible for organizing a series of interactive workshops for students to gain practical experience with blockchain technology. In addition, I worked with NDAX to provide students with resources and materials to help them understand the fundamentals of blockchain technology and its applications.
